True Authority: Dependence on GOD

True Authority: Dependence on GOD

26. JCH5: 24-30

Even CHRIST had utter dependency on GOD while He was living among men. He said “I can of Myself do nothing“. Although GOD had given HIM all the right to judge, He would not judge without being led by GOD. This goes to all as leaders that we all are. When GOD gives us the right to rule and judge the affairs of some set of people, He is expecting us to trust HIM for direction as He trusts us with the lives of these people; hoping that we will not falter in our duties.

11. JCH 1: 5-13

There are two things to note here:

  1. The servants might be wondering in silence what CHRIST was trying to achieve by filling up the waterpots with water when all they needed was wine. But they did one thing right – They obeyed by faith and that was all CHRIST was asking for! Our walk with GOD must not be measured by what we know naturally. We must let our trust in GOD take control of our personalities and beliefs. As servants, all we need to do is obey as those who trust in His Person and His Words! And we cannot do this unless we yield all our being to Him. And as servants that we are to the True Master we don’t ask questions; we just obey first.

Question: What do you think happened to the servants that obeyed CHRIST?

My Answer: Their mind would be enlightened and they would want to know more about HIM. Our level of wisdom and understanding of GOD and His Son depends on how much we are willing to go in obedience by faith to His simple instructions without unnecessarily querying HIM.

  1. CHRIST was a man of great authority but at the feast in Galilee, authority was not given to HIM to approve or disapprove anything at the feast in Cana and He being the Author and the Fulfilling of the Law knew this. If CHRIST who is GOD respected authority, who are we not to?

In truth, our relationship in GOD is meant to make us good children and parents at home, exemplary students and teachers at school, and model citizens of our countries.

Even though CHRIST’s’ miracle was enough to direct all authority to Himself, He would still let the governor of the event determine whether the water is suitable as wine or not.

Question: What would have happened if CHRIST had undermined the governor’s authority in the process of turning water to wine?

Answer: The miracle might still happen and people would feel awed by what was done but that would have negated all that CHRIST embodied from the FATHER.

GOD give me the willingness and the yieldedness to obey You even when You do not make sense to me. Let my relationship with You be evident as a person whose life fulfills the law of GOD and men.

1 Samuel 21:1, 4-5; 22: 9-10

Journey of leadership always starts with a man. Every journey of leadership must not be started with multitude, even if it does, it means each one must later separate from others to begin a specific task.

Though David’s reason for being alone was persecution, he would have ended up aloe one way or another so far God has a plan for him.

But the issue is not particularly about being alone what is being done during the period of “loneliness”. For David, his first stop in his journey was the House of the LORD . . . This means that his being alone only applied being separate from men. When a man on the path of/to leadership wants to be alone, it must be that he wants to be ALONE WITH GOD.

Being alone with God is the foundation a man must build his journey of leadership upon. The second issue remains what he should do when he is alone with God. As for David, he:

1. INQUIRED from the LORD to know WHO he was to become and WHAT he must do to become who he was to become. He let God determine his path . . . He subscribed to a leadership training that is perpetual; ready to learn any point on time.

2. RECEIVED STRENGTH from the LORD i.e. provision needed to start the journey well without fainting even though he was in the middle of persecution, chaos and unrest. He needed power from within and God gave it to him. HE renewed his strength like that if an eagle because he trusted in HIS counsel, hope and waited on and upon HIM.

3. RECEIVED AUTHORITY i.e. The sword for conquest in case there were obstacles and oppositions in the journey. There will always be oppositions especially on the path of leadership that JESUS pioneered for every saint to tread.

These three elements must be sought for from the LORD from time to time to ensue good success. The truth also remains that being ALONE WITH GOD is always imperative at every juncture of our lives.

Davidic Leadership is the kind of leadership that takes its ROOTS and CLUES from the LORD. It is a leadership that has its curriculum mined from the source – GOD! (Habakkuk 2:2-3).

The Rod and The Staff

A shepherd as recorded in Psalm 23 had a rod and aa staff but in reality, I have never really seen a shepherd holding more than one stick. So how come HIS rod and staff comfort me when I only see one stick in HIS hand?

There goes a saying that a dog plays and disciplines its child the same set of teeth it has. Which means that the object of care is also the object of correction/punishment.

Hebrews 4:12 also explains the feature of the Word of GOD being a two-edged sword and how it divides what is GOD from what is not of GOD even though it looks right and admissible.

The Rod and The Staff are from the same Element and this Element functions based on the state of the heart of the sheep; either the element serves as an object of authority and direction for the obedient sheep or as an object of correction/punishment for the erring ones. What is rest assured is that both measures are meant for the comfort of the sheep.

The Word of GOD that comes out with authority and power is the same Word that corrects/punishes the Children whenever they err. What is most important to know is that HIS Word comes deep from HIS Heart of Love and Compassion. HIS Word spoken to us in different times is for the purpose of that ultimate comfort/rest HE had purposed for us.

HE is always hoping that we would only experience the Staff-side of HIS Word alone by simply obeying with due diligence but if we, by any means slip, HIS mercies resident in HIS Rod will nudge us back to The Way that leads to Life.

But the sheep must also know that this double-featured Element can also be a tool of judgement for those animals that have failed to see reason with the Shepherd in the Light of all HE had shown them by the same Element that will mete out their judgement.

Peace To The Wise!
